Today, MTDC have established mutually rewarding business relationships with strong and influntial players in the world tourism industry. Of the three ongoing resort development projects, two resorts are being operated under the sublease model while one is to be developed under a joint venture.
Baa Atoll
The government leased Kihavah Huravalhi in Baa Atoll to MTDC in 2006. MTDC subleased it to Minor International Labuan, who opened Anantara Kihavah Villas, a 5-star resort, in 2010, located 30 minutes by sea plane from Male.
Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll
The government leased Magudhuvaa in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll to MTDC in 2006, subleasing to Ahmet Aydeniz in 2007. Ayada Maldives, a 5-star resort, opened in 2011, 50 minutes by flight and 30 minutes by speedboat.
